A NEW ATM will replace the old one at the RBS branch in Haddington.
East Lothian Council approved the plan last Tuesday, allowing the bank at 32 Court Street to upgrade its existing machine.
The new ATM is set to be installed in the front vestibule of the branch, a building recognised for its early 19th-century classical style and marked as a Category B listed property in the Haddington Conservation Area.
The planned update promises "improved functionality" and enhanced compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act.
The machine will also come with updated branded fascia surrounds.
The new ATM will offer improved access heights for keyboard compliance.
The changes seek to preserve the architectural integrity and historical features of the building.
The plans involve only minor internal changes to accommodate the new machine.
The stainless steel surrounds currently in place will be reused, ensuring no structural or layout alterations impact the building’s historic fabric.
The update does not alter the overall building height, internal layout or external landscaping.
The environmental impact of the upgrade is expected to be minimal.
The materials and design of the new ATM match the existing one, maintaining the building’s current aesthetic without additional resource demands.
As the proposal concludes, the move is intended to be "keeping in the character of the listed building".
