ABERLADY Primary School pupils quizzed their local MP on his role.
Douglas Alexander, MP for Lothian East, was invited to the school to speak to the P7 class about the work MPs do in their constituencies and in Parliament.
He also discussed his additional role as a Government minister.
The pupils had the opportunity to ask Mr Alexander a range of questions about his work, with the most popular question being who the most famous footballer he had met during his time in politics was!
Mr Alexander said: "I’ve always regarded visiting schools to speak to pupils about our democracy and how Parliament functions as one of the most important tasks for parliamentarians to undertake in their constituencies.
"Learning about how our two Parliaments operate and make new laws is not only part of the curriculum but also helps young people develop their understanding of what it means to be a good citizen and to participate in public life.
"I welcomed this opportunity to speak to pupils at Aberlady Primary, who were well prepared and asked some excellent questions, and look forward to visiting other local schools in the future."
