A PACKED programme of East Lothian events has been unveiled for Book Week Scotland.

The celebration of literature will be held across the county from Monday to next Sunday (November 24).

The week will kick off with an event featuring author A J Proudfoot at Musselburgh Library on Monday at 6pm.

Mr Proudfoot, who has been an accountant and also a marketing manager at the University of Edinburgh, will discuss his experiences and the inspiration behind his first novel, Rise of the First Wessex King.

The book, which tells a tale of medieval Britain rooted in his own family history, will be available for purchase at the event.

On Tuesday, North Berwick Library will host a workshop led by interdisciplinary poet, artist and performer Iona Lee at 2pm.

The free workshop will engage participants in visual, sound and concrete poetry writing exercises.

At 2.30pm, the John Gray Centre in Haddington will host the launch of Ann Burnett's new book A Last Journey.

The author will share the poignant story of her husband's battle with dementia, offering hope and raising awareness about the impact of the disease on families.

The book will also be available for sale at the event.

On Wednesday at 2.30pm, the Star Room in the John Gray Centre will transform into a space for finding joy in everyday life with a workshop led by Marie Adams.

For a fee of £2, attendees can enjoy refreshments and a 90-minute session focused on mental health, wellbeing and developing a positive outlook.

Next Thursday (November 21), Dunbar Library will host a creative writing workshop with Elspeth Wilson from 6.30pm to 8pm.

The free workshop invites participants to explore the theme of friendship through a series of engaging writing exercises.

The following day, next Friday (November 22), Dunbar Library will hold a Christmas-themed workshop by Jo MacNamara from 2.30pm to 4pm.

The free workshop will guide participants on how to recycle old items into festive decorations, with a special focus on books.

Next Saturday (November 23) is packed with activities, starting with a talk by Professor Marjory Harper at the John Gray Centre at 11am.

The £2 ticketed event will take the audience on a pictorial journey through aspects of Scottish emigration in the 19th century.

At the same time, North Berwick Library will host a children's book reading talk by Valerie Duncan.

The free event offers youngsters the chance to learn about the benefits of edible bugs and changing outlooks on health and the environment.

Haddington Library will host the same talk at 2.30pm.

Dunbar Library will host an author event with Debbie Zawinski at 11am.

The free Knit & Natter session offers knitting enthusiasts a chance to meet the author of Stories in Stitches; A Memoir in Knitting while working on their projects.
