A HOTEL which closed its doors suddenly earlier this year is back on the market.

Nick Heckford, along with wife Anne, reopened The Goblin Ha' in May but the Gifford business abruptly shut at the end of September.

Now, Cornerstone Business Agents is looking for someone to take on the business.

Described as a “popular destination bar and restaurant”, the hotel features seven en-suite letting rooms, as well as a conservatory, function room and beer garden.

It is named after part of the nearby original Yester Castle ruin, known as the Hobgoblin Hall, which was said to have been built using “magic” by a wizard and hobgoblins, and which featured in Sir Walter Scott’s Marmion.

The property, on the village’s Main Street, is offered on a lease agreement for five or 10 years, with tied lease for beer, cider, ale and lager.

A guide price of £20,000 is sought.

Annual rent is £71,206 and any new tenant must be “demonstrably capable of fulfilling their obligations under the lease agreement and references will be requested without exception”.
