NEW residents at a housing development in Dunbar have received a welcome home card designed by a youngster at the town’s primary school.

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland challenged primary six pupils to create a colourful design, and Mei Love’s winning entry has been turned into a welcome card that is now given to homeowners when they move into their new homes.

Mei received a £50 Amazon voucher and, because the standard of entries was so impressive, the judges chose Fergus Mackenzie and Annabelle Davidson as the two runner-up designs, each winning a £25 voucher.

Dunbar Primary School received a £200 donation as a thank you for getting involved.

“Once again, this project has been a great opportunity for our school to play a part in the new and growing community nearby.”

The children were recently invited to the development to receive their prizes and framed copies of their designs.

Kirsty McGill, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “We would like to thank everyone who got involved with our ‘Welcome Home’ card competition.

“All the entries were fantastic and we struggled to pick a winner.

“Ultimately, we decided that Mei’s design would act as the perfect ‘welcome home’ for our new homeowners as they settle into life at Belhaven Way in Dunbar.

“We were so impressed with the children’s designs that we chose two more designs to award prizes to, and we understand the children had great fun taking part in our unique challenge.”
