FOOTBALL fans are being given the chance to get behind their club through a new initiative.
Work is under way on Haddington Athletic’s 154-seat stand at their home of Millfield.
As part of a ‘Stand up for the Hi Hi’s’ campaign, supporters and friends of the club can get involved by ‘sponsoring a seat’ for £100.
To show the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) Premier Division club’s appreciation for backing the initiative, the names of sponsors will appear on a large board displayed at the back of the stand.
The names of seat sponsors will also be published on the club’s website.
Supporters can also choose to sponsor a seat in the name of a loved one.
Their name will appear on a memorial board also to be displayed in the stand.

Drew Donaldson, president of the football club, said: “It has been an incredibly successful last few years for Haddington Athletic, particularly with our promotion to the East of Scotland Premier Division in 2022.
“It’s an exciting time at present, with the club competing at its highest ever level and a high standard of football on display.
“The support we’ve received from the local community and our sponsors has been tremendous, with bigger crowds and a real family-friendly atmosphere in and around Millfield.

"We have excellent facilities and a quality playing surface, which is testament to the commitment and dedication of our hard-working committee and volunteers.
“We want to build on this in the years ahead and continue being successful.
“We believe that the building of our new stand is the final piece in the jigsaw.
“By standing up for the Hi Hi’s and getting involved in our seat sponsorship initiative, supporters and businesses will see their name on display at Millfield and help us bring this project to fruition.
“It will give spectators increased choice from where to watch the action and ensure an even more comfortable matchday experience.
“Haddington is a growing community and we hope that improved facilities will tap into this, attracting even more people to Millfield to see excellent football and helping us continue being successful on the park.”

The Hi Hi’s are extending the seat sponsorship initiative to businesses which in turn will have their name displayed on a board within the stand.
Last month, work started on the stand, which will constructed next to the dugouts on the opposite side of the pitch from the existing standing enclosure.
Three options – gold, silver and bronze – are available for businesses, with costs ranging from £250 to £1,000.
The seat sponsorship initiative will help complete the funding package for the stand.
The club has already secured support for the project through funding from East Lothian Council, the Alexander Amos Trust, Haddington Common Good Fund, and Haddington and District Community Council.
