FOOTBALLERS were left in the dark on Tuesday evening as floodlights went off in Haddington.
The town’s East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) side Haddington Athletic were playing Edinburgh South in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
The Capital club held a 1-0 lead at the break but the game was cut short 12 minutes into the second half.
An investigation into what happened has been launched but a spokesperson for the Millfield side took to social media to say: “Fifty-seven minutes played and tonight's friendly prematurely ends suddenly – a loud bang of, as it stands, uncertain origin results in floodlights failing and there's no option but to call a halt to proceedings; issue seems not to be confined to Millfield, though.”
