A COUNTY man has been ordered to attend sessions with a domestic abuse organisation over the next two years after he admitted an abusive course of conduct towards his former partner.

Mihail Kostadinov engaged in the abusive behaviour against his ex over a five-year period at addresses on Moir Avenue and High Street in Musselburgh.

Kostadinov, 36, admitted to repeatedly shouting, swearing, acting in an aggressive manner and uttering offensive remarks while in a relationship with the woman.

He also repeatedly contacted the woman and on one occasion struck her to the head and attempted to kick her on the body.

All the incidents took place between April 1, 2019, and March 11 this year.

Kostadinov pleaded guilty to amended charges under section one of the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2008 when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this year and sentence was deferred for reports to last week.

Sheriff Joseph Stewart sentenced the offender, of Moodie Wynd, Prestonpans, to be placed under the supervision of the social work department for 24 months and instructed him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Sheriff Stewart also ordered Kostadinov to attend appointments with the Caledonian Men’s Programme, designed to address his domestic offending, and handed out a non-harassment order prohibiting any contact with the woman for three years.
