A CELEBRATION of French cinema takes place in Tranent this month as the town hosts part of the 2024 UK French Film Festival.
Across November, four films will be screened at The Fraser Centre for audiences to enjoy, along with a French wine tasting evening.
This is the second year that the Fraser Centre Community Trust has participated in the festival, increasing the number of films on offer following a successful festival in 2023.
Tranent is one of 25 locations across the UK to host the 32nd version of the event this year.
On Thursday, November 7, La Petite Bande/The Little Gang will tell an adventurous tale about five friends who transform themselves into eco warriors.
On Friday, November 8, the centre will screen En Corps, in which a talented ballet dancer sees her career and life turned upside down.
The story of a 17-year-old musician in Divertimento will be shown on Thursday, November 21.
And on Friday, November 22, En Fanfare/The Marching Band will document the life of an internationally renowned conductor as he travels the world.
All films are screened in their original language alongside English subtitles.
The wine tasting with Catherine Boot, from local supplier Wine Wednesdays, will also take place on November 22.
The event includes an “informal tutored tasting” of five festive French wines, accompanied by canapes.
Attendees will be seated at mix and match tables, and the featured wines will be available to purchase after the event.
David Orr, chief executive officer at The Fraser Centre, said: "We were delighted with the reaction to the films last year and have increased the number of films this year, as well as adding events around the films such as wine tasting.”
