INSPIRATIONAL teenager Eva Knox has been praised for her selfless volunteering in a motion submitted by Craig Hoy MSP.

Eva, 17, has given her time to a number of community projects in her home town of Tranent, including for Walk With Scott, the town's gala committee and Tranent Wombles.

South Scotland MSP Mr Hoy has now submitted a motion in recognition of Eva's "tremendous charity work".

The full motion reads: "That the Parliament congratulates Eva Knox, from Ross High School, on being awarded the 2024 'Scotter of the Year' award as a result of her tremendous charity work; acknowledges her exceptional efforts in local projects across Tranent; notes her commitment to the Tranent Gala committee, by assisting with rehearsals, and previously the winter wonderland fundraising fairs; recognises her additional commitment to Tranent Wombles, where she has volunteered her time to collect litter; acknowledges her commitment to St Martin’s Women’s Guild, where she has assisted at various fundraising events throughout the year alongside her family; further acknowledges her work with the dementia-friendly Tranent garden of reflection by giving up her free time to keep it tidy; recognises that Eva has committed significant time and effort to her community; and wishes her all the best for the future."
