AN AUTUMN fundraising event at Dementia Friendly East Lothian’s meeting centre in Musselburgh was a big success.
The event raised about £1,215 for the centre’s outings and activities fund.
The recent event took place at the centre, which is based at St Andrew’s High Church.
A singalong with the Musselburgh-based Clark Community Choir was enjoyed, as well as music from the Ukulettes, a local ukulele band, and a group of young musicians, Mathew, Hubert and Liam.
Visitors were served tea, coffee and homemade scones with butter and jam, and there were treats for children.
A raffle was held at the event and people got the chance to guess the number of sweets in a jar.
Christmas cards, designed by meeting centre members, were also sold to raise funds.
Fiona Barrett, manager of the meeting centre, said: “Outings and activities help members continue to remain an active part of their local community by enjoying trips to local landmarks and benefiting from the expertise of local artists, musicians, writers and many others who visit the meeting centre.”
She added: “Members are absolutely delighted to have raised £1,215 on the day, with a bit more still to come in from Christmas card sales.
“It goes without saying how grateful we are to all of the local businesses and individuals who donated to our raffle so generously, to all the singers and musicians who gave generously of their time and, of course, to everyone who came along and enjoyed a good sing song while supporting the work of the meeting centre, again so generously.”
