A PRESTONPANS man was caught driving his partner’s car despite being banned from doing so.

Peter Satta, 33, claimed that he was was in the passenger seat of the vehicle when his partner became unwell, leading him to offer to drive the rest of the journey on October 21 last year.

But he was soon pulled over by police officers after the vehicle’s registration plate was scanned and the details showed that the insurance was only in the woman’s name.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that Satta, of Preston Crescent, drove on several roads in the Granton area of the Capital and had several previous convictions for similar offending.

Satta, who works for an Edinburgh bakery firm, appeared at the court for sentencing last Friday, where he was handed a 12-month road ban.

The offender was also fined £800 and ordered to wear an electronic tag and stay within his home between 8pm and 6am each night for the next six months.
