PLANS for office space on the ground floor of a pub which closed its doors more than five years ago have been refreshed.
The Gardeners Arms shut in 2019 and it looked as if last orders had been called when permission to transform the building on Haddington’s Kilpair Street was given last year.
At that time, the plans from Derek McKenzie showed ‘lettable space’ on the ground floor, with two flats above.
Now, fresh plans from Mr McKenzie suggest the ‘lettable space’ could be shrunk, with another flat created over part of the ground floor and the mezzanine bar level.

Drawings included with the latest application, which has been lodged with East Lothian Council’s planning department, show a one-bedroom flat spread over the two levels.
The name for the pub dates back hundreds of years, as the Fraternity of Gardeners of East Lothian was once based in the town.
They purchased a property on a corner of Market Street which contained the inn still known as the Gardeners Arms.
Listed building consent would be required alongside planning permission before work could get under way.
