THIRTY years of friendship have been celebrated during a hectic programme of events.
Dunbar and District Twinning Association hosted more than 50 friends from Lignières to celebrate the milestone anniversary of the twinning agreement between the two towns.
The French group arrived last Thursday and were treated to a series of activities.
Visitors stopped off at various schools, Dunbar Town House, John Muir’s Birthplace and a reception with Provost John McMillan in West Barns Bowling Club, with entertainment from The Herber Mooths.
On top of that, they also enjoyed a coastal geology tour, Foxlake Adventures, a trip to Lennoxlove House, a ceilidh at Stenton Village Hall, ukulele band and a game of French boules in Lauderdale Park.
The visitors even managed some free time in between their many organised events.
On Saturday, after a tree planting ceremony in Lauderdale Park and lunch in Dunbar Royal British Legion, Dunbar Community Pétanque organised a competition, with teams drawn at random to allow hosts and visitors to mix.
James Wyllie, chairperson of Dunbar and District Twinning Association, welcomed everyone, and Sheilagh Fallon translated for Stuart McCombie, chairperson of Dunbar Community Pétanque, as he welcomed more than 50 people to the pistes.
Honours were fairly even, with Odile Plisson, Cathy Page and Simon Sparksman coming first, second and third respectively.
Odile was a very popular and modest winner, and received great applause and even song from the lively audience.
The exhausted Lignières group returned to France on Tuesday and preparations are already under way to mark the 31st anniversary.
