THE show must go on for a resilient group of performers as Centre Stage looks to welcome audiences to a fun Christmas variety show full of comedy, song and dance.

The Tranent theatre group was set to put on performances of Sleeping Beauty as its annual pantomime but a number of challenges and setbacks led to the decision to change direction.

Instead, the cast, including children from age three through to adults, are putting on 'Centre Stage Selection Box' at the Loch Centre on November 28 and 29.

Mags Foster, the group's secretary, has seen all of the hard work that the group has already put in to bring this show to life on stage.

She said: "All the younger kids' groups had already been rehearsing their dances and songs for the pantomime, so we're going to still use those, but we're also going to add in more songs and skits and sketches and things.

"It's going to be a little bit of everything.

"It'll be a nice little Christmas variety show with a bit of comedy, a bit of song, a bit of dance."

Centre Stage is run by a team of volunteers in roles including producers, choreographers, stage direction, wardrobe and props, as well as several admin-based positions.

Together, they work with children, adults, parents and volunteers across the community to put on two shows per year.

This is the second show that the group has performed this year as it celebrates 45 years of Centre Stage.
