A MAN who drove a stolen car in a dangerous manner by speeding and mounting a pavement is facing a jail sentence.
Declan Salmond was found to be behind the wheel of a vehicle which he knew to have been taken unlawfully and also while he was serving a previously imposed road ban earlier this year.
Salmond, from Musselburgh, was caught after he was seen driving the vehicle dangerously on Peveril Terrace and Gracemount Drive in Edinburgh.
Salmond sped through the Capital streets over the national speed limit and caused other road users to take evasive action to avoid colliding with him.
The 27-year-old then failed to give way and drove onto a pavement before colliding with another vehicle, causing damage to both cars, all on July 6.
Salmond pleaded guilty to the three charges when he appeared in the dock from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Sheriff John Cook deferred sentence for a week.
Salmond, currently of no fixed abode, was given an interim driving ban and was remanded in custody pending sentencing.
