A DUNBAR man is facing a lengthy jail sentence after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting two young girls, one of whom was just three years old.
Terence Pegg, of Fall Avenue, was found to have attacked his first victim by touching her on the genitals with his fingers on various occasions between August 2013 and August 2017.
Pegg also sexually assaulted a second girl by sitting astride her and pinning her to a bed before kissing her on the mouth and touching her breasts.
He also touched the child on the genitals with his hand over her clothing on occasions between March 2015 and March 2018.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that the first victim was just three years old when the abuse started and the second was only seven years old.
Pegg, 59, denied all the allegations but was found guilty by a jury of five offences following a trial at the city centre court last month.
The jury also found Pegg guilty of showing one of the victims images of his genitals on a mobile phone and asking her to touch them.
He was also found guilty of assaulting both children by slapping them on the body and repeatedly punching them to the head during incidents said to have occurred between March 2014 and August 2018.
The jury was told that all the incidents took place at an address in the the town.
Pegg was due to be sentenced at the court on Tuesday but Sheriff Gillian Sharp deferred the disposal for a further report to be prepared to next week.
Pegg was placed on the sex offenders' register on an interim basis and will be sentenced on Tuesday next week.
