BOXING superstar Josh Taylor is looking to guide himself to become a world champion once again. . . on a computer screen!

Fittingly, the former undisputed world light-welterweight champion is among the cast on the newly released Undisputed.

Steel City Interactive developed the game, which is available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Taylor was looking forward to getting his hands on a copy of the game and guiding the computerised version of himself to glory.

He said: “There’s not been a boxing game in well over a decade.

“I think the last one was on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 and it was Fight Night Champion.

“It was a great game but that was the last one and was well over 10 years ago.

“It has been a long wait for a game!”

Undisputed was released earlier this month and already Taylor has had people getting in contact with him on social media about playing as him.

The 33-year-old said: “It is just mad.

“I have lots of little kids and even men as well but quite a lot of teenagers sending me requests or stories of playing me as a character.

“It is cool seeing folk playing as you.

“Being in a computer game is quite strange but cool… a nice, strange feeling.”

Taylor, who unified the light-welterweight division when he defeated Jose Carlos Ramirez in Las Vegas in 2021, made a trip down to Sheffield to be included in the game, which has been published by Deep Silver.

More than 70 fighters, from today’s stars to legends of the ring, are featured in the game, including Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Roy Jones Jr and Taylor's fellow East Lothian-based fighter Lee McGregor.

The Tartan Tornado told the Courier how the development involved him being surrounded by cameras so that he was photographed from every angle before his various punch mechanics were recorded to become part of the gameplay.

Taylor, who grew up in Prestonpans and now lives in Haddington, shared how surreal it was being in a computer game, even if there was one detail he was not particularly happy with.

He laughed: “When you are growing up, things like this are what you dream of and imagine being in a computer game.

“It is mad seeing yourself in a game.

“My haircut in the game is terrible!

“I went to see some daft barber down there and he butchered me and gave me a really bad haircut.

“I am stuck with it on the game unfortunately.

“It is still quite cool seeing yourself in a game and I am getting lots of videos on Instagram of people tagging me and in their stories as a character.”
