A MAIN route connecting two of East Lothian’s towns is closed for three nights.
Johnnie Cope’s Road links Tranent and Prestonpans and is frequently used by people travelling between the two towns or heading to Prestonpans Railway Station.
Work started yesterday evening (Monday) and runs from 10pm to 7am each evening until Thursday morning.
The works are focused on the short stretch of road that goes under the East Coast Main Line and allows for masonry repairs to be carried out at the bridge.
A diversion on the B1361, A198 and A199 will be in place during the road closures.

Last year, a battle to keep the road open was won.
Previously, council officials had asked councillors to vote for the road to redetermined as an active travel route.
That would have seen it closed to the majority of vehicular traffic, but councillors rejected the recommendation following an overwhelmingly negative response from the public.
