HARLAWHILL Day Centre has cut the ribbon to open its new “posh loos” and hosted a party to celebrate

Refurbishment of three disabled toilets within the Prestonpans premises was completed last week and the centre hosted a small party to celebrate the official opening.

Members enjoyed live music from singer Ana Filogonio, who recently performed at a relaunch event for the 3 Harbours Arts Festival.

The three new bathrooms were fitted by local the father-and-son team at TKS Plumbing Services, and 80 per cent of the funding came from Tyne & Esk Rural Communities Development Fund.

The centre now has three fully refurbished disabled toilets. Fiona Mitchell, care centre manager, said: “Our 'posh loos' are a joy to behold and we cannot wait to show them off to our many visitors to the day centre, including the children from the local nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as support meetings we host for carers in the community.

“We are so fortunate in Prestonpans to have outstanding help from many, many in our community and I particularly wish to thank Tyne & Esk Rural Communities Development Fund for all their help and assistance in making our dream come true, as well as our main contractors Tom Knight and Son, a local company.”
