PLANS to welcome a Premier store to the centre of Haddington have been given the green light.
Both advertising consent and listed building consent were approved for Sheree Shah for the premises on 90 High Street, which was previously Shopsmart.
East Lothian Council granted consent for the distinctive purple and yellow sign to be put in place.
That came despite a letter of objection claiming that it would be “out of character” with other shopfronts along High Street, as well as the proposed colour scheme and lettering being “out of proportion with the rest of the listed building and overall would be harmful, inappropriate and inconsiderate of both the conservation area and the listed building”.
