BUSINESSES are being urged to come together to provide a united voice.
Haddington has previously been home to various versions of a business association but they have fallen by the wayside.
Councillor George McGuire, who represents the town on East Lothian Council, felt that there was merit in the possibility of the idea being explored again.
He said: “I think it would be a good idea because it would give us a contact point, a focal point, to liaise with and get their opinions or ideas or suggestions from them.
“The thought of having to go round all the different businesses, speaking to them individually, if they did have meetings or got together to have someone to say to ‘this is our idea’ or ‘what we were thinking about, what would the businesses think of that’, they would know or could take it to the businesses.”
Already, there are similar business groups in Dunbar, North Berwick and Musselburgh representing the various businesses.
