WORK to deliver more than 130 new homes – including more than 40 affordable properties – at Blindwells will get under way this month.

Social enterprise Places for People has permission for 93 homes for private sale and a further 42 affordable homes at the new town, which is between Tranent, Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton, and Longniddry.

Homes sold on the open market will range in size from two-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, while the affordable housing mix decided in agreement with East Lothian Council will include bungalows, cottage flats and two to four-bedroom houses.

Colin Jack, regional managing director, Scotland at Places for People, said: “Places for People is delighted to have the opportunity to build this collection of new homes and help bring to life the vision of Blindwells as an attractive modern town where people will thrive now and in the future.

“We believe that by creating homes for all in sustainable, multi-tenure communities across Scotland, we can positively impact the lives of our customers and their wider communities.

“We encourage anyone that is interested in the lifestyle on offer at Blindwells to get in touch to find out more.”

Places for People purchased the development site from Hargreaves Land, which developed the 1,600-home masterplan for Blindwells and received planning consent for this phase in March.

The developer, which is also heavily involved in the expansion of nearby Longniddry, plans to begin construction on site this month and intends to launch the private sale homes onto the market in January.
