AN ASSAULT was reported to police on average once every three days in Haddington last month.
Forty-nine crimes were reported to officers during September, with 11 of those classed as assault.
The figures were given to Haddington and District Community Council at its meeting on Tuesday.
The statistics show that 248 calls were made to police over the 30 days and 49 crimes were recorded.
The monthly report was broken down into five sections: protecting the most vulnerable; reducing violence and anti-social behaviour; reducing acquisitive crime; improving road safety; and tackling serious and organised crime.
Under reducing violence and anti-social behaviour, police noted 11 assaults, as well as four cases of threatening and abusive behaviour.
An incident of drinking alcohol in a public place, as well as an offence of carrying an offensive weapon and a separate crime of possessing an offensive weapon, were also noted.
Five thefts were noted under reducing acquisitive crime, alongside four cases of shoplifting and four reported frauds.
Incidents of driving with no insurance, careless and dangerous driving were also highlighted under improving road safety, while four cases of possession of drugs were noted under tackling serious and organised crime.
