A SLIPROAD connecting the A1 to the Edinburgh City Bypass will be temporarily closed later this month.
The sliproad off the westbound (northbound) A1 at Old Craighall Junction will be closed for roadworks from 9pm on Monday, October 21, until 6am the following day.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the work to assess the condition of the road ahead of future resurfacing.
A signed diversion will be in place from Wallyford Junction for motorists wishing to exit the A1 westbound.
Road users will be diverted via the A6094 and A68 to join the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass at Millerhill Junction.
It is expected that the additional 1.3 miles will add four minutes to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway during these investigation works; however, we’ve scheduled them during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.
“If you need to use this route on the night of October 21, we’d encourage you to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.”
