A SCOTTISH Parliament motion marking the success of Prestonpans War Memorial at the recent Legion Scotland Best Kept War Memorial competition has gained the support of a number of MSPs.
Last month, the Courier reported that the Prestonpans memorial won the category of Large Community without Gardens from Legion Scotland.
Tabled by South Scotland MSP Martin Whitfield, a Prestonpans resident, the motion welcomes the memorial winning at the prestigious awards and congratulates the various local groups that have been involved in the memorial’s restoration and upkeep.

Mr Whitfield said: “I was delighted to see the war memorial secure this success at the Legion Scotland awards and wanted to acknowledge both the award and the contribution of those involved in achieving it at the Scottish Parliament.
"A significant amount of work has gone into restoring the memorial and regenerating Civic Square over the last few years, with many groups and individuals playing their part in that important project.”
