A MUSSELBURGH man has been given a prison sentence after he assaulted a woman in the town earlier this year.
Kevin Goodfellow pushed the victim against a wall and, after seizing her by the hand, he struggled with her on Millhill Lane on February 17.
Goodfellow was soon identified and arrested following the attack and, after appearing in court in relation to the offence, he has been in custody since February 19.
The 39-year-old was back in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court from custody last week, where he pleaded guilty to the assault.
Goodfellow, c/o HMP Edinburgh, had not guilty pleas accepted to charges of pushing the woman from a bike and attempting to rob her of a ring during the same incident.
Sheriff Jane Farquharson KC sentenced Goodfellow to a 31-week custodial sentence backdated to his remand date.
