CAMERA crews will arrive in Haddington town centre next month for “a classic road movie”.

Letters are being sent out to businesses and residents ahead of filming for Borges & Me.

Filming will take place on Haddington High Street on October 27 and 28.

The letter, from a member of the location team, notes that the closure will be for vehicles only and pedestrian access to High Street will be maintained.

It reads: “We anticipate that you may be affected by, at the very least notice, our presence in the area, and as such are keen to outline our plans and give you the opportunity to raise any potential questions or concerns.”

A full road closure – from 6.30am to 6.30pm – will be in place on October 27.

Parking will also be suspended on the street, with the team keen to avoid seeing any modern vehicles, as the film is set in the 1970s.

The letter reads: “Local buses will be able to come through our closure and onto the High Street at usual – again, they may be requested to wait for a few minutes until we have cleared the road to allow them through.

“Equally, if you require access to the High Street for deliveries, or residential access, during the closure, please do let us know – we will do everything we can to facilitate.”

The following day, filming will take place at the western end of the High Street between 8am and 1pm.

A stop-go traffic management system will be in place to prevent “non-period vehicles entering our shots”, as well as suspending a small number of parking bays on the street.

The letter reads: “We look forward to bringing our production to the area – we’re conscious that we will be guests here and will do all we can to minimise disruption.

“In the meantime, thank you – both for taking the time to review this information, and in advance for your support.”
