GREEN-FINGERED volunteers will be rewarded later this year.
Belhaven Hospital Community Garden; Growing Matters at Gilmerton House; Glorious Gullane Bloomers; and Lime Grove Community Garden, North Berwick, are all part of the It’s Your Neighbourhood initiative.
The scheme is Beautiful Scotland’s community environmental improvement initiative, which it manages with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) under the Britain in Bloom campaign.
It runs alongside Beautiful Scotland but is non-competitive and is based on the three pillars of community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement.
Groups can score up to 100 points, with one of five certificates – establishing (0-35 points), improving (36-52), advancing (53-68), thriving (69-85) and outstanding (80-100) – awarded.
Community groups will find out what they have achieved over the coming weeks before a virtual ceremony is held at the beginning of December.
