AN EAST Lothian Co-op is set to close for nearly seven weeks to "improve" and "enhance" services to the community.

The North Berwick High Street store will shut-up shop on the evening of October 17, with a relaunch expected on December 5.

Store bosses are anticipating a fresh new look following a programme of works and improvements which will include a newly installed Costa Coffee Express machine.

Added services such as parcel collections and returns via Amazon and DPD are expected to continue to be offered after the refurbishment.

A spokesperson for the Co-op, said: “The whole team is delighted to have an opportunity to invest in North Berwick to enhance and improve the community’s Co-op store.

"Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we will work to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently.

"We are, however, very sorry for any inconvenience caused during the store’s temporary closure, and look forward to welcoming our members and customers back into their new-look Co-op when we conclude the programme of works and improvements and relaunch the store.”

Currently, the store supports 15 local jobs, which also includes two open vacancies – more information about jobs and careers at Co-op can be found at jobs.coop.co.uk
