A CHARITY shop boss says she is "thankful no one was hurt" after a car struck the outside of the store while staff were inside.

At about 10am on September 12, a grey Toyota struck the British Heart Foundation Scotland store on North Berwick, which was open at the time.

The damaged vehicle has been left outside Cut 'N' Colour Hairdressing salon – which is next door to the charity shop – ever since and has been branded an "eyesore".

The car, which has sustained damaged to its bumper and bonnet on the side, has now had a yellow 'Police Aware' notice placed on it.

Lindsay Watkinson, British Heart Foundation area manager, said: “We can confirm there was a road traffic collision involving our store in North Berwick on September 12.

"We're very thankful that no one was hurt and we're still open and trading as usual.

“As always, we’re hugely grateful for any extra support, whether you want to donate or shop with us. Every item we sell will help us raise money for lifesaving research.”

Police Scotland confirmed to the Courier that "no one required medical treatment" at the time of a crash and nobody had been charged at this time.

A spokesperson said: "Around 10am on Thursday, September 12, we were called to a report of a road crash on High Street, North Berwick.

"No one required medical treatment and a report was forwarded to the relevant authorities."

Meanwhile, one resident, who wished to remain anonymous, was concerned about the car's lengthy stay on the street.

They said: “It’s almost been two weeks and the car still hasn’t been moved, it is a complete eyesore.

"It’s blocking a space for other people who might want to use it."
