ROSS High School has hosted its annual Celebration of Success Awards evening for senior pupils, with S6 pupil Alex McMillan receiving the honour of Dux.
Awards were given to pupils in S5 and S6 for attainment, as well as for various subjects at National 5 and Higher level. Some pupils also received Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards and a further 29 special awards handed out to pupils for particular achievements.
The awards took place on September 10 at the Tranent school, and featured performances from two of the school’s bands, Sixteen Again and Room 5.
Guest Dr Sam Blackley spoke to the packed hall about her journey, from being a pupil at Ross High School from 1997 to 2003, to her current position as consultant geriatrician at the Western General Hospital.
Paul Reynolds, headteacher at Ross High, said: “The Senior Celebration of Success gives us the opportunity to congratulate and celebrate both academic attainment and the effort and hard work our pupils showed throughout last school session.
“All winners on the evening deserve huge praise for their achievements.
“Congratulations to this year’s Dux winner, Alex McMillan.
“Well done to all our award winners on the night and I wish them, and all our pupils here at Ross High School, the best of luck for the rest of this school session.”
