FLOUR power, sushi and pumpkins are at the heart of a pipe band’s latest popular calendar.

East Lothian’s strong relationship with food and drink is represented in Haddington Pipe Band’s 2025 calendar.

‘Sound Bites’ is launched at The Loft on Saturday, with all the photographs of the band taken in or near Haddington.

Professional photographer Nick Callaghan has captured members of the band enjoying a picnic by the Nungate Bridge, rolling Easter eggs at the Garleton Hills, pumpkins for Hallowe'en, the power of flour at Poldrate Mill, sushi at the Oriental Garden, and even the transformation of The Loft into a French café.

Provost John McMillan, who represents Haddington on East Lothian Council, will officially launch the calendar.

An exhibition of the pictures will be on show at The Loft until the end of January.

There will also be a chance to vote for your favourite photo in the exhibition and enter a free prize draw.

“We’ve been absolutely delighted to have Nick Callaghan again create the photography for this year’s calendar,” said the band’s Alastair Bruce.

“He brings incredible quality to the project, and this has enabled us to put together a series of great photos which celebrate not only the band but also some of the food and drink heroes of our county.”

Mr Callaghan has helped create the popular calendar, which is sent out to people across the world, for a number of years.

The photographer said: “Once again, it’s been a real pleasure working with the band on these shoots.

“I’m always delighted to be involved with such a fantastic community organisation and to support them, as well as highlight the quality and range of our county’s food and drink sector.

“Over the years, we have had a lot of fun together creating the photography for the calendars, and this year has been no different.”

As ever, the project has been supported by many local businesses and the band paid tribute to their help.

Following the launch, the calendar will be on sale for £7 at various shops and other outlets, including The Loft.

It can also be bought online, with details at haddingtonpipeband.co.uk

All funds raised from this calendar will be used to pay for tuition, instruments, uniforms and other initiatives which help the band to develop and make a positive contribution to the town and the community.

“We are extremely grateful to the many companies and organisations who have very kindly sponsored the production of the calendar and helped us with the photoshoots,” said Mr Bruce.

“Their support is invaluable.”
