TRANENT is set to be part of a multicultural celebration as the town hosts part of the upcoming Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival.

The festival, which is now in its 11th year, showcases Spanish films by inviting audiences to enjoy 23 films and talks across the month.

Events are spread across four venues in Edinburgh between October 3 and 26, with an additional two dates in Inverness, Glasgow and Stirling, and three in Tranent.

The Fraser Centre is showing Spanish films on October 3, 4, and 11 in its 108-seat cinema.

On Thursday, October 3, El maestro que prometió el mar/ The Teacher who Promised the Sea will tell the story of a missing soldier from the Spanish Civil War.

On Friday, October 4, the centre will screen Los Pequeños amores/Little Loves, which was released earlier this year.

Spanish comedic drama Bajo Terapia/Under Therapy will be shown on Friday, October 11.

All films are screened in their original language alongside English subtitles.

Other events across the festival include a wine tasting, a talk from Spanish novelist María Dueñas, and a specific trio of ‘Inspirational Women’ movies.

David Orr, chief executive officer at the Fraser Centre, said: "We are delighted to join the Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival as our cinema programme continues to grow and screen a wider selection of film choices for our audience to enjoy".

The festival offers accessible options with British Sing Language interpreters at talks, descriptive captioning and free tickets for carers.
