A shopper has thanked Co-op staff for finding a lost Russian-style ring that has belonged to her since her teenage years.

Karen Kidd, of Cockenzie, was shopping in Port Seton's Links Road store on Saturday, September 7 when she lost the ring, which holds deep sentimental value.

She told the Courier that its disappearance made her feel "sick".

Following two deep cleans of the store by Co-op staff, it was employee Nathan Stewart who found the ring and returned it to Karen a few hours later.

It is a Russian wedding ring - also known as a triple rolling ring - which are normally three interlocking bands of rose, white, and yellow gold, worn on the right hand.

"There isn't a lot of financial value to it but it was a Russian wedding band which is obviously unique and I have had it since being a a teenager so it does mean a lot to me.

"At that point, the staff had a quick look around but then my son's friend who works there, Nathan Stewart, said he'd find it for me by doing two deep cleans and he actually ended up finding it.

"I was absolutely thrilled when they told me -  this is the sort of thing you don't normally shout about and I just wanted to thank all the Co-op staff who helped in finding it as they all did go above and beyond in finding me my ring."

The Co-op has been contacted for comment.
