ROSS High School is celebrating its 70th birthday with a number of fun and nostalgic events later this year.
Paul Reynolds, headteacher of the Tranent secondary school, has plans for two days of activities in November to commemorate the platinum anniversary.
An evening of bingo alongside displays of old photos is set to take place on Thursday, November 28.
On Friday, November 29, pupils are encouraged to dress up in retro 1950s-style clothing to commemorate the school’s opening in 1954.
A birthday party across classrooms and a performance from the school’s drama club pupils will be part of the celebrations for current students.
An afternoon tea is also planned, and Mr Reynolds is hoping to welcome former pupils who attended Ross High School around its opening to join the event.

A motion celebrating the 70th anniversary was also recently tabled by Martin Whitfield, South Scotland MSP, in the Scottish Parliament.
The motion highlights the school’s significant milestone and congratulates everyone who has been associated with it over the years on its various successes.
Commenting on the motion, Mr Whitfield said: “During the time I’ve represented the East Lothian area, I’ve always been greatly impressed by Ross High School and its various achievements.
“Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to visit the school, as well as to welcome pupils to Parliament and help celebrate some of its many successes along the way.
“Now I’m delighted to have tabled this parliamentary motion welcoming Ross High’s 70th anniversary and congratulating everyone who has been part of the school’s journey over the last 70 years.”
The full motion reads: "That the Parliament welcomes the 70th anniversary of Ross High School; believes that, since it was first opened in 1954, the school has been at the heart of the local community in Tranent and its feeder primary schools, providing schooling to thousands of local people over that time; congratulates Ross High’s leadership team and all other staff members, the parent council, parents and carers, pupils and everyone else associated with the school on reaching this significant milestone, and on everything that they do to help ensure that the school delivers the best possible educational experience for its pupils; and wishes the whole school community the very best with its anniversary celebrations and for the future."
