KEN Loach’s The Old Oak is the curtain raiser as Humbie Box Office film club begins a new season later this month.

The film follows a previously thriving mining community which is struggling to hold on to its pub.

At the same time, tensions rise when refugees are placed in the town.

The screening on September 27 takes place in Humbie Village Hall, with complimentary nibbles and a glass of Prosecco.

A spokesperson for the group encouraged people to head along and said: “For this opening night, doors open at the earlier time of 7pm and screening starts at 8pm.

“We show one film a month, usually on the last Friday, from September till April with an occasional extra showing such as an evening of short films.

“Full details can be found on our website at www.humbieboxoffice.co.uk

“Yearly membership is still only £35 with a one-night membership at £5 on the night.”
