A PRESTONPANS community councillor has told how he was "chased" down the town's High Street by a "dangerous" rider of a red dirt bike.
At the latest community council meeting, held on August 27, concerns were raised about a reckless driver riding a red dirt bike around the streets of Prestonpans and Tranent.
The issue was raised by Frances Hamilton, newly appointed community police officer for the ward, who said that she had received numerous reports of the unidentified driver in recent weeks, including of them speeding, revving their engine and going through red lights.
The make of the off-road bike is not currently known but is is believed that it is being stored somewhere in Prestonpans.
Graeme Hutchison, community councillor said: "I was pretty much getting chased along the High Street in Prestonpans by him last week.
"On Tranent High Street, I also saw him going through multiple red lights as well.
"The speed he is going at is dangerous and I think he will either end up hurting himself or someone else."
The community police officer added: "I have been tasked with enquiries and identifying the person who is riding around in the red dirt bike and finding out where it is being stored.
"We have no way of stopping it at all and they aren't wearing a helmet.
"Any information would be greatly appreciated.
"There has been chat it is being stored in Prestonpans but I am trying to get as much information as possible."
Residents with any relevant information are being urged to get in touch with Police Scotland by calling 101.
