AN AWARD-WINNING housing development has been visited by Scotland’s Minister for Housing.
Longniddry Village, which has seen the existing settlement extended to the south of the East Coast Main Line, was named ‘Large Development of the Year’ at the Homes for Scotland Awards last year.
Paul McLennan, East Lothian’s MSP, saw the first phase of the development and was also given a tour of the conversion of the historic Longniddry Steading, where a number of the commercial spaces are nearing completion.
Mr McLennan, who is Housing Minister and was also previously the leader of East Lothian Council, said: “The new mid-rent homes at Longniddry Village will play a valuable role in boosting Scotland’s affordable housing supply.
“Everyone deserves a warm and safe place to call home and these high-quality, energy efficient properties will help to meet the needs of the local community for generations to come.”
Fraser Lynes, managing director of Cruden Homes, was pleased to welcome Mr McLennan.
He said: “Longniddry Village is an ambitious mixed-tenure development that plays a vital role in the creation of much-needed quality housing in East Lothian.
“The landowners, Wemyss & March Estates, had a clear vision for this vibrant new community and we are proud to play a key role in delivering what has been praised as ‘one of the best examples of new housing ever seen’.”
