THE Rotary Club of Musselburgh has a new president.
Arlene ‘Fox’ Stuart has taken over the reins from Drew Johnston.
The recent handover took place at the Mercat Grill in Whitecraig, where the club meets.
Fox said: “I am delighted to take over the baton – well, it is Olympics year – of the presidency of the Rotary Club of Musselburgh from Drew.
“I hope to continue the good works Drew has led over the past two years and thank all who have supported our activities.
“Our communities of Musselburgh, Wallyford and Whitecraig are great places to live, visit and work in.
“It is by investing in our communities that they will continue to thrive. So that’s my theme as president – ‘Investing in Communities’.
“By reaching out to fellow community-based organisations, to connect and collaborate on projects, I hope we can be of continued service to all.
“I’m particularly looking forward to us being a part of Musselburgh Communities Day on September 28 and also to planning for our youth programmes, Young Musician and Young Technologist.
“We are a friendly bunch at the Rotary Club of Musselburgh. The club offers fellowship across generations. It’s one of the aspects I love most about Rotary.
“We’d love to hear from folks interested in joining us. Do reach out and message us via our Facebook page.”
Drew commented: “It has been a great honour to be the president of the Rotary Club of Musselburgh for the past two years.
“I am particularly proud of our work to maintain nine defibrillators throughout the town, including Wallyford and Whitecraig.
“Being a member of the Rotary club enables me to serve our community whilst developing strong friendships and having fun along the way.
“I look forward to supporting our new president, Fox, for the next two years.”
The club is raising funds to maintain potentially life-saving automated external defibrillators it has provided in the area. The portable devices can be used to treat a person whose heart has suddenly stopped working.
The club holds regular car boot sales at the Fisherrow Centre to raise cash for the initiative.
