THE countdown is on for the 2024 Musselburgh Community Flower & Craft Show this Saturday.

The event is held in St Michael’s Church Hall, which is set to “bloom” with everything from garden delights to crafts, produce and baking, with doors opening to the public at 1pm after the judging.

Children are being encouraged to enter one of the many classes to score themselves rosettes or trophies and have a fun-filled afternoon with free face painting by Stina Sparkles.

Eve Dickinson, president of Musselburgh Horticultural Society (MHS), which organises the show, said: “Art, begonias, cupcakes… there will be something for all to enjoy.

“Our tombola is always an extravaganza and local supporters and businesses have donated generous raffle prizes, with a chance to win a day at the races, vouchers for dining out or one of several gift bags and hampers.

“As always, we will have our popular cake and candy, and there will be a plant stall with locally grown perennials and produce. Refreshments will be available, with muffins, cake or biscuits.”

She added: “MHS hopes that the community will come along to share a fun family afternoon starting at 1pm once our team of judges have finished choosing the best exhibits entered by aspiring crafters, gardeners, bakers and children.”

Visitors are asked to visit on foot as there is limited parking.

Entry is £2 for adults and free for children accompanied by an adult. The adult entry fee helps to cover the costs for hall hire and a donation to Musselburgh Sea Cadets.

Exhibits can be registered and dropped off at St Michael’s Church Hall from 5pm to 8pm tomorrow (Friday) or on Saturday morning from 8am to 9.30am.

Schedules with entry forms can be picked up from Musselburgh Library, Brunton Hall, Hollies Community Hub, Blueberry Gifts and Strawberry Corner Garden Centre, or by emailing musselburghhorticulturalsociety@hotmail.com
