The train lines between North Berwick and Edinburgh have "reopened" following a warning from Scotrail that all trains may be cancelled or delayed for the rest of today (Friday) due to a fault with barriers. 

ScotRail alerted customers of the disruption this afternoon but now trains will run as usual. 

Previously, they had warned that due to the fault with barriers, trains in both ways between Edinburgh and North Berwick may be "cancelled or delayed". 

On X, Network Rail said: "Lines have now reopened following an earlier fault with the barriers at a level crossing between Edinburgh and North Berwick / Dunbar and trains are able to run as scheduled." 

ScotRail confirmed to the Courier that the fault was at the St Germains Level Crossing, located just off the A198 between Seton Mains and Longniddry. 

The 12.26pm and the 1.30pm trains to Edinburgh Waverley were cancelled. 

This fault was expected to impact customers at train stations along the line at Musselburgh, Wallyford, Prestonpans, Longniddry and Drem. 

Previously, Scotrail alerted customer by saying: "Disruption has been reported to services between North Berwick and Edinburgh.

"The following train services may be cancelled due to a fault with barriers at a level crossing: the 1.30pm, 2.22pm, 3.25pm, 4.23pm, 5.24pm, 5.54pm, 6.25pm, 7.03pm, 7.26pm, 8.17pm and 10.28pm." 

The Edinburgh to North Berwick to Edinburgh train alert read: "Disruption has been reported to services between Edinburgh and North Berwick.

"The following train services may be cancelled due to a fault with barriers at a level crossing: the 12.40pm, 1.41pm, 2:.9pm, 3.38pm, 4.42pm, 5.13pm, 5.47pm, 6.13pm, 6.39pm, 7.40pm and 9.40pm." ​
