A DOG grooming business on a residential street has been given the go-ahead, despite concerns about traffic in the area.
East Lothian Council approved the plans to convert the garage on Lamberton Court in Pencaitland into the small business.
Phillipa Headley and Tom Harley, who are behind the plans, outlined to the local authority’s planning department their vision for the business.
The applicants anticipated that the business would be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and also Saturday mornings.
The planning officer’s report reads: “The applicant is expecting to provide dog grooming to a maximum of three to five dogs on a full day and two to three dogs in the morning.
“Dog grooming will be for one dog at a time.
“The applicants' house has space for one car on their existing drive but notes there is space for visitors in the unrestricted parking in Lamberton Court.
“It is also noted that a number of clients live locally and thus would walk to the property.”
Planning officials noted that there had been one objection to the proposals.
Concerns included that the business would “attract additional levels of vehicle traffic into an already congested street” and asked if consideration had been given to “the potential risk to pedestrians and the impact on a quiet cul-de-sac residential street”.
Permission was given to the business for 12 months, while opening-hour restrictions were also put in place.
