TWENTY-FOUR nights of roadworks are planned on the A1 to allow for “essential concrete repairs”.

BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out work at the Innerwick Junction to address areas of “deteriorated carriageway”.

The works are due to get under way on September 2 and run until September 25.

Works will take place each night from 7.30pm until 6am the following day.

Details of the works state: “Traffic management will be in the form of temporary traffic lights with a convoy in place for northbound traffic.

“For one night on Sunday, September 8, restrictions will be in place for access to/from Innerwick Junction with fully signed diversion routes in place.

“This will be as follows – road users intending to head south on the A1 from the Innerwick Junction will be diverted north to Spott Roundabout to then continue southbound on the A1.

“This diversion will add approximately 5.6 miles and six minutes to affected journeys.

“Southbound road users on the A1 intending to turn right into Innerwick Junction will be diverted south to Cockburnspath Roundabout to then continue north and access Innerwick Junction via the A1 northbound.

“This diversion will add approximately 8.3 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.”

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
