LONGNIDDRY Primary School welcomed BBC’s George Anderson to open its revamped ‘Time Garden’ ahead of the summer holidays.
A team of parent volunteers and local community members gave the garden area a makeover to enable it to be used as a learning and teaching space year-round.
Parent council members Gill Thomas and Elaine Ramsay were key to driving the project forward, securing funding and donations of time and materials from a range of local businesses.
To celebrate, children from primary three and four delivered a garden-themed assembly to family and invited guests of honour.
Mr Anderson, presenter of the BBC’s Beechgrove Garden, visited the school to cut the ribbon at the garden’s official opening ceremony.
Sheona Skinner, headteacher at Longniddry Primary School, thanked everyone involved for their time and efforts. She said: “I genuinely thought we would get a quick tidy up of our Time Garden; however, our dedicated group of parents and our wider community have done us proud with this amazing revamp that will benefit groups of children for many years to come. We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and commitment to this project.”
