Fringe by the Sea organisers have made an appeal "to keep the music going" after a theft of DJ equipment from one of their venues this morning.

Thousands of spectators are expected at the festival this weekend with The Jacksons along with Ash and Idlewild taking to the main stage.

This morning, a person was seen seeing leaving with an expensive pair of DJ decks from the festival's smaller Park Life tent in North Berwick's Lodge Grounds.

Organisers of the festival took to social media to request the return of the equipment.

They said: "We need your help in keeping the tunes going at Fringe by the Sea.

"Someone has made off with a pair of Pioneer CDJs 2000 Nexus from our Park Life tent  this morning.

"If you saw someone around the Lodge or North Berwick with this equipment, or if you have any information, please contact us at info@fringebythesea.com."

The Park Life tent is a new addition to the festival offering this year, where an eclectic mix of DJs play a variety of musical styles in a club-like atmosphere.

Botanica DJ takeover is scheduled to play there between 9pm and 11pm on Saturday night, immediately after North Berwick DJ, Caspar Cosmos.

Enthusiasts of the festival have been quick to show their frustration about the alleged theft.

One person said: "Why on earth would someone do that!"

Another person said: "That is terrible."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.30pm on Friday, 9 August, 2024 we received a report of a theft from the East Road area of North Berwick.

"Enquiries are at an early stage."
