A FAMILY-RUN Londis store, originally expected to be a Premier, is set to open in a matter of weeks.
In April, plans were submitted for the Premier to open on Prestonpans' Monks Meadow, but those have since fallen through.
The Courier can now reveal that a Londis has replaced the original plans and the store will open on August 31.
The co-owners of the store are a couple who are themselves residents of the street, Vaidota and Ravi Rai, and they will be opening the shop with a celebratory day on the last day of August.
Vaidota, 39, who is originally from Lithuania, moved to Scotland in 2012, while Ravi, 56, from Nepal, arrived in 2005.
The couple met in Musselburgh in 2012, moved to Prestonpans six years later and have two children: Simona, seven, and Julius, four.
Speaking to the Courier, Vaidota, told us of how excited she and her husband were to be serving the people of Prestonpans.
She said: "It has been a really long process to get the store all ready, as it took around two years, but I am just so excited to finally open.
"We are nearly there for getting the store up and running and we can't wait to welcome people."
The store is located in one of the three units of Meadow House, located on Monks Meadow.
One unit will be offices, with the other expected to be a cafe/soft play area.
The shop is expected to create two full-time and part-time positions.
