A TEENAGE boy who was riding an e-scooter was rushed to hospital with serious injuries this morning after a collision with a van.
Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service were seen on Albert Terrace, Ashgrove and Linkfield Road in Musselburgh, located next to Musselburgh Racecourse, following the incident.
The ambulance service received a call at 7.33am to attend the incident and transported a 15-year-old boy to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
A passerby, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Courier that they saw an ambulance at the scene, along with three or four police cars.
They said: "I did not see anyone get hit but I did see three or four police cars and an ambulance and it looked serious."
The driver of the van was not injured.
Police Scotland are currently making enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.40am on Tuesday, August 6, we were called to a crash involving a van and a pedestrian riding an e-scooter at Linkfield Road and Ashgrove, Musselburgh.
"A 15-year-old male, the rider of the e-scooter, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.
"The driver of the van was not injured.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 7.33am today to attend an incident on Albert Terrace, Musselburgh.
"We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one teenage male patient to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
