SUMMER has finally arrived in East Lothian. . . and just in time for a busy weekend.
If you are at a loose end on Saturday or Sunday, why not head along to one of many great events taking place?
Whether you are looking for something more active or something more relaxing, there is something for everyone.
1. Fringe by the Sea
Where is it? Lodge Grounds, North Berwick
What is it? Comedy, music, circus workshops and much more.
When is it? 10am onwards on Saturday with events taking place each day until August 11.
A PROGRAMME packed to bursting point with a wide selection of activities is on offer in North Berwick.
Fringe by the Sea 2024 continues tomorrow (Saturday) with plenty on offer in the Lodge Grounds and North Berwick.

Among the highlights is comedian David O’Doherty, Fantastic Fungi with Nev Kilkenny, Yoko Pwno and Del Amitri.

2. North Berwick Highland Games Parade
Where is it? Quality Street, North Berwick
What is it? A parade in honour of long-standing president of North Berwick Highland Games John Starr.
When is it? Saturday, 6pm to 8pm
NORTH Berwick Highland Games were started in 1996 with John Starr at the very heart of the event.
This year’s games were due to take place in the town this weekend but plans were shelved following Mr Starr’s death.

Now, a special parade, featuring pipe bands, Highland dancers and a choir is planned for the town centre.
Mr Starr was described as “the absolute fulcrum” of the event.
3. Gullane Games
Where is it? Gullane
What is it? A fun celebration of everything for the family
When is it? Events take place throughout Saturday and Sunday
THE final weekend of Gullane Games takes place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.
Races, fancy dress, beat the goalie and glitter tattoos are all planned in the village tomorrow.

The fancy dress parade, with a theme of France/Olympics, takes place from 1.30pm.
On Sunday, there is a community evening jam from 5.30pm at the Gullane Games marquee.
4. Innerwick Flower Show
Where is it? Innerwick Village Hall
What is it? East Lothian’s oldest flower show
When is it? Entries should be in the marquee at 9am on Saturday
FLOWERS, fruits, vegetables and a whole lot more will be on display at Innerwick Flower Show.
The show, which dates back more than 150 years, has long been a favourite on the East Lothian social calendar.

This year’s event features plenty of produce but also face-painting, Irish dancing and afternoon tea.
There will be plenty of refreshments on the day to enjoy.
5. Football
Where is it? Either Foresters Park or the Olivebank Arena
What is it? Football from the Scottish Lowland Football League and the East of Scotland Football League
When is it? Musselburgh’s game kicks off at 2.30pm while Tranent get under way at 3pm on Saturday
TRANENT and Musselburgh Athletic avoided defeat in the opening fixtures of the new season.
Ian Little’s men drew 2-2 away at Cowdenbeath while Musselburgh were 4-0 winners against Edinburgh University.
On Saturday, Tranent welcome Berwick Rangers to Foresters Park.
Just along the A1, Musselburgh look to make it six points out of six when they tackle Luncarty.
