A TRANENT man has appeared in court to plead guilty to a charge of possessing indecent images of children.

Robert Melrose, 22, was caught in possession of a collection of child abuse images at his home on Robertson Drive when police raided the property in 2022.

Melrose was found to have downloaded the material between the dates of July 29, 2021, and November 29, 2022.

He appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to admit his guilt last Tuesday.

Sheriff Charles Walls did not hear a narration into the details of the incident and deferred sentence on Melrose to August 20.

Melrose was placed on the sex offenders’ register on an interim basis until sentencing.
